A Poem By Barb Leaman

“I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”

Speaks powerfully to me.

But “Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men”?

I’m afraid I don’t always see.

The hate man can inflict on man

Can take my breath away.

Just open up a newspaper-

So much hate in a single day!

How can a parent kill their child?

A town burn due to racial divide?

“And in despair I bowed my head”,

So many, Lord, have died.

Many Iraqi students slain

Beheaded children in Pakistan-the same.

No backs were turned on their Yahshua

Their martyrs crowns-no small fame.

“There is no peace on earth”? Not now,

But earth’s end is a new beginning.

Calvary’s Slain has broken the chains,

No death sentence for believers’ sinning.

Satan’s power will be destroyed;

Christ the King has set us free.

From manger to cross to right hand of God

For all eternity!

So when we hear the bells on Christmas Day.

We with all the saints can say

It was worth it all, the King WILL come

In triumph to take His children home!
